Ryan Magdalena Architects is a Scottsdale-based architecture firm specializing in bespoke residential design. With a deep appreciation for design integrity, quality materials, and exceptional craftsmanship, we create homes that are as thoughtful as they are timeless. Our focus is on boutique projects—each one unique, each one personal. We work closely with our clients to understand not only how they live, but how they dream. From desert modern to transitional and everything in between, our work is defined by clean lines, rich textures, and a meticulous attention to detail. Whether building from the ground up or transforming an existing space, we bring a collaborative spirit and refined design sensibility to every project. The result is architecture that feels custom, crafted, and deeply connected to place.
Ryan Mayer, AIA | Principal
Ryan Mayer is a registered architect and holds a national certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from Arizona State University and is an active member of the american institute of architects (aia).
Ryan has trained under renowned architects Don Ziebell of Oz Architects and C.P. Drewett of Drewett Works, gaining experience across a wide range of architectural styles including modern, rural Mediterranean, and coastal California.
His work has spanned prestigious projects in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Boulder, Los Angeles, and other locations. Through these experiences, he honed his project management skills—with a particular emphasis on construction administration, excelling in organization, communication, and attention to detail on complex, high-end builds.
Ryan also developed a deep understanding of translating design intent into built reality, mastering the nuances of construction and materiality—including working with antique and reclaimed materials to preserve authenticity and craftsmanship in his projects.
Magdalena Mayer | Principal
Magdalena Mayer was born and raised in Arizona, and holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from Arizona State University.
Throughout her career, Magdalena has worked in various architectural roles, including as a project designer at Oz Architects under the direction of Don Ziebell, where she deepened her understanding of scale, proportion, materiality, and quality. Her time there also highlighted the essential relationship between architecture and interiors, and how thoughtfully integrated elements—like furniture, lighting, and art—can elevate the architectural experience and enrich the feeling of home.
She has contributed to a range of residential projects in locations including Los Angeles, Paradise Valley, and Scottsdale.
While she’s been fortunate to work on inspiring designs, becoming a mother has profoundly influenced her perspective. It has reshaped the way she thinks about the purpose of a home and the meaning of the spaces we choose to live in—making her approach more thoughtful, personal, and rooted in the real rhythms of daily life.
